Lean Green Belt Certification
February 20 to 22, 2026
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Overview
This 3-day course provides an in-depth understanding of lean principles and how to apply them within your organization. Your lean journey begins with clear illustrations of how each lean concept is applied and the impact it has on a process.

This training is open to students of all majors and academic years, as well as industry professionals. No prior lean experience is required.

A core focus of the course is mapping process flow and identifying activities that truly add value from the customer's perspective-an essential foundation of lean thinking. Participants will also learn how to manage and sustain lean processes through continuous improvement.
The course covers how to structure organizations to support lean initiatives, implement 5S within operational environments, and begin reducing setup time using the SMED process. The Lean Green Belt exam is included in the course fee.
Participants who score 70% or higher on the exam will receive the IISE Lean Green Belt Certificate. In addition to in-person instruction, participants are expected to complete suggested readings, practice problems, and online presentations as part of the certification requirements.
